Pirate Swords Will Spark Anybody’s Interest

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in Movie Replicas, Swords

thumbnail 06 1912598177064b174aea33fc6 Pirate Swords Will Spark Anybody’s InterestThe first Pirates of the Carribean movie was a great hit. The sequels were equally so. Clearly, this is a sign that many people in the modern world still hold a fascination for these scraggly, sometimes evil, but always exciting and entertaining characters. What child would not be eager to hold a mock fight with the shorter pirate swords?

Pirate’s swords are usually shorter than knights’ since fighting is usually done at close range when the pirates board the ship they wish to conquer. Handling this weapon while trying to veer away from an opponent’s deadly stab involves a lot of skill. While young boys can play with toy swords, the ones available online at Dungeon Knight and other similar websites are not exactly safe for kids to handle. These are collectible items that are replicas of the real thing and can be equally fatal when used. The Pirate Cutlass with Scabbard is a typical pirate sword – short and curved and a force to reckon with at close range.

Authentic replicas such as these are popular collectors’ items. You can count on something this unique and conspicuous to become a conversation piece at parties held in your living room. Who has not watched a pirate movie or two? Who does not know of Peter Pan? Few have the opportunity to come close to almost the real thing.

More than that, however, they bring to fore avid interest in online pirate strategy games with hopefully no casualties but, rather, a loud buzz of conversation. Impress people with similar interests or tell your stories with a real prop. Either way, this unique and interesting piece will surely bring life to the party.

Jungle 101: The Machete

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in Other Weapons

thumbnail 17%20CS97AM1812598177174b174af5688fa Jungle 101: The MacheteEver wonder how people stranded in jungles survive? Ever wonder how Indiana Jones made it through dozens of perilous vegetation? Whips aren’t the answer. Yeah, you guessed it, they carried machetes. These blades are important for any survival tactic. With its functionality and portability, the machete is the ultimate tool against nature.

The key to surviving any jungle expedition is resourcefulness. One might remember the famous quote from Bear Grylls of Man vs. Wild to be as such “necessity is the mother of all inventions”. With barely anything, you will have to strive and make your own tools to thrive in the wilds. What better aid is there than your wits and a cold, hard machete. Of course, the chances of you being stranded in the middle of the jungle are pretty slim, but stranger things have happened.

The Cold Steel 18 inch Latin machete can prove to be the handiest tool to your survival. With an anti rust matte finish, 18 inch carbon steel and a smooth long handle, this machete can cut through anything be it vines our torso-sized tree trunks.

With Christmas season almost here, nothing says “I love you” like a machete. A perfect present for any weapon or swords enthusiast, butcher or outdoorsman, surprise your loved ones with an unexpected gift. Once you have grasped the machete in your hands, you’ll want to try it out on the nearest vegetable chopping board (unless you can find a jungle near you) and experience the euphoria of wielding it.

The Way of the Sword Collector

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in Fantasy Swords, Samurai Swords, Samurai Weapons

thumbnail 46%20CS88BCK12598177094b174aedadf23 The Way of the Sword CollectorLong ago in ancient Japan, feudal lords battled one another for territory. These men command thousands of infantry troops called samurais, lone men whose purpose is to serve their vassal lord with honor. A samurai’s destiny is to spread honor and fame through his swordsmanship. The sword by his side, called a katana, is his lifeline, livelihood and companion.

The mastery of this so called katana takes a lifetime, where one must dedicate his entire soul solely to it. Some say that a master skilled in swordplay can slice off a butterfly’s wing with one flick of the katana, from sheath to slash. Of course, the 21st century has kept us busy from pursuing our personal desires. Though you can’t possibly dedicate your life to the sword, you can own it and feel the samurai spirit flow into you.

The Cold Steel Warrior Series Chisa Katana Sword is made out of carbon steel and underwent the same heat treatment and sharpening process as the other katana swords. The handle wrapped in black braided cord and accented with brass menuki will let you experience the finesse and balance of the blade. The sword itself is over 24 feet long.

Far from its mastery, you are a step closer to feudal Japan. Sure you can never slash a butterfly’s wings, but at least you can be the modern day samurai you always wanted to be with this samurai sword. Just don’t go waving that sharp katana around, because you don’t want to cut a finger or two.

What We Learn from the Medieval Past

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in General Stuff

deluxetemplar12598176984b174ae21937b What We Learn from the Medieval PastThis knight from the year 1066 AD takes you to a nostalgic trip to the era that is best known as the Dark Ages. Yet this handsome knight as shown in this action figure looks as if he was not affected by his time at all.

That’s because the knight chose to be on the right side of things—right, at least, in terms of the standards of that time. If you are to look at it right now, you’ll easily consider the medieval era as cruel and unjust. What was considered now as the “Hundred Years War” is not to be glorified.

Dungeon Knight helps us out in terms of our nostalgic trip to a past that we haven’t been, too. In the website, we can find the Deluxe Ornate “Hundred Years War” Knight action figure—a perfect inclusion to your holiday medieval gifts this year.

This 17 inches medieval knight shows us the culture of the times and the attitudes of the people who have lived the era. This handsome knight hinted a general sense of pride amongst men. Chivalry, besides, was in effect that time. Men of Caucasian descent were considered the higher beings compared to the savages and the middle class citizens of the empire.

The 17 inches action figure also shows the cultural contribution of the medieval era to the world today. The ornate details on the knight’s breastplate, chainmail, swords, shield and helmet tell us about the artistic sensitivities of the people back then despite the fact that obscurantism of the Catholic church took its toll all across Europe, North Africa and some parts of Asia.

This hand-painted knight looks natural. It’s like a miniature of the real knight armors we find lining a castle aisle in a post-medieval country. It is complete with the tunic and the shield that resembles the real thing. In fact, if you get to look at the picture, you’ll get to be deceived by the figure unless you take a closer look.

The Deluxe Knight Ready for Battle stands 7.5 inches tall. Its stance looks as if it is positioning for an attack. The action figurines include detachable swords, daggers and shields.

Your friend will find it great to include in his or her collection of medieval artifacts. Otherwise, he or she would love to see it displayed at the drawing room or in his or her bedside.

A Proof of High Quality Craftsmanship

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in Armor

thumbnail AB015312598176664b174ac23af5a A Proof of High Quality CraftsmanshipBack in the 15th and 16th century, a medieval armor should be worn over a specially padded jacket called the arming jacket. Plated armor has been used all across Europe during the medieval era.

Dungeon Knight offers an authentic replica of an Arming Jacket-Black. This one rivals only the original version. It can be worn during any costume party or convention or you may just want to display it together with your collection of medieval stuff. Anyone who loves that era would want to own one of these arming jackets just for the heck of it.

The arming jackets are crafted to provide more protection and security to the armor from vivious pounding of swords. There are specific parts of the jacket which you can sew to the armor to improve stability. It really is crafted to ensure that the wearer is provided boosted protection and not just to add up to the weight of the warrior’s attire. Nonetheless, the weight itself is part of the security as mentioned. All these have been carefully thought out to ensure that its functions are performed perfectly well.

It has to be mentioned that during the 15th century, medieval military craftsmanship has entirely developed to merge form and function. This is one proof to that merger. Clearly, the use of arming jackets together with exquisitely design medieval armors provide that extraordinary comfort and protection to the warrior off to the battlefield.

Dungeon Knight has given as the honor to own some of the most accurate replica of the original arming jackets worn by medieval warriors during their time. If you are an avid collector of anything medieval or just fond of that era, here’s something to keep in your wardrobe.

The Merger of Form and Function in Combat

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in Armor

thumbnail dknight 30022612598177324b174b043edd3 The Merger of Form and Function in CombatIt was during the latter part of the 1400s when German Gothic Mitten Gauntlets has seen the light of the day. Artisans and blacksmiths during the medieval era have focused on medieval armor to embattle the fierceness of barbaric tribes who would rather resort to ambush than face the conquistadors in a battle field.

Guerilla warfare has become the strategy of these tribes the battle the more professional army of the empire. Germany’s contribution to that is by means of mitten gauntlets. These come in handy whenever a flying spear or an arrow heads towards a medieval warrior and all that is left for him to do is to shield himself with his free hand.

For us who need not worry about getting killed by a flying spear, Dungeon Knight offers a replica of the German Gothic Mitten Gauntlets for the purpose of reliving those days when walking with just a few layers of clothing on is tantamount to walking naked.

German Gothic Mitten Gauntlets are preferred by most medieval era artifacts collectors and historians because it was the first time in that era when military blacksmiths began focusing on the merger of form and function. It is obvious in the way the German Gothic Mitten Gauntlets are crafted. The design perfectly executes its purpose but did not compensate the aesthetic value at all.

The medieval armors available at Dungeon Knight were also crafted using the same principle. Only, the armors are not supposed to be used in real battles. Not especially now that swords are replaced by grenades, or worse, missile launchers.

The Sword of the Hero

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in Movie Replicas

thumbnail 20 3028 The Sword of the HeroOne of the coolest film of the ‘00s, Jet Li did t once again with a film of epic proportion, Hero. Dungeon Knight gives us the chance to own an official replica of the Hero Movie Sword of the Nameless Warrior w/Scabbard.

Fans of the Nameless Warrior would love to know that Dungeon Knight also offers other movie replica props aside from the sword used by the Nameless Warrior, himself, on the film.

Westerners can’t help but adore the amusing history and culture of the Chinese. The civilization has flourished as early as the ancient civilizations in Europe did, in fact, some historians claim that the Chinese were technologically ahead of most civilizations in the ancient world. One manifestation is the existence of this particular Chinese epic that has been made into a Hollywood film featuring Jet Li. And now, we can even get the same Snowflake Sword of WuMin that was particular depicted in the story.

It is an honor to own one of these Chinese swords that are made from authentic stainless steel blades with a long-shaped hole, just like that in the film. The blade also had the same engraving as that in the movie that says “Ean Shong” which literally translates as “warrior.”

In addition to the sword is the equally accurate replica of the scabbard. It fits the sword well enough and the decoration also matches only the real thing. But aside from that, Dungeon Knight is even nice enough to include a bonus Nameless Warrior headband just like the one worn by Jet Li in the film.

Lesson from the Undead

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in Movie Replicas

thumbnail 20 50010 Lesson from the UndeadYou don’t need to believe in the undead to enjoy a latest purchase of the Resident Evil Double Kukri Sword Set with Sheath. Fans of the Resident Evil film would surely want something they can look back on about the film as it gets buried in the subconscious of moviegoers worldwide.

Dungeon Knight offers other movie replica props such as the ones used in the film, Resident Evil. The most popular of which has become the Kukri sword simply because of the way Alice, the lead character in the film have used the sword competitively as she slashed and slit the flesh of every undead in the vicinity.

In her venture, she had experience knowing how it could have felt like being one of them—violent, emotionless and brutal. But Alice merely kills what was already dead and that makes a different. Except if the undead she is dealing with is someone she knows, worse, someone she is willing to give up her own life for.

Looking at the Resident Evil Double Kukri Sword Set with Sheath, a fan of the film can’t help but feel Alice’s confusion once again. It somehow characterizes what most of us would feel like when we are placed in the same situation, God forbids. But more than anything else, what has been emphasized in the film that we should always keep in mind whenever we see our swords collection is that violence should always be the last resort. And only when we hurt someone would we learn to fully realize our humanity. If there’s any lesson learned from Resident Evil, that probably is it.
