Clearly, this is a sign that many people in the modern world still hold a fascination for these scraggly, sometimes evil, but always exciting and entertaining characters. What child would not be eager to hold a mock fight with the shorter pirate swords?

Pirate’s swords are usually shorter than knights’ since fighting is usually done at close range when the pirates board the ship they wish to conquer. Handling this weapon while trying to veer away from an opponent’s deadly stab involves a lot of skill. While young boys can play with toy swords, the ones available online at Dungeon Knight and other similar websites are not exactly safe for kids to handle. These are collectible items that are replicas of the real thing and can be equally fatal when used. The Pirate Cutlass with Scabbard is a typical pirate sword – short and curved and a force to reckon with at close range.

Authentic replicas such as these are popular collectors’ items. You can count on something this unique and conspicuous to become a conversation piece at parties held in your living room. Who has not watched a pirate movie or two? Who does not know of Peter Pan? Few have the opportunity to come close to almost the real thing.

More than that, however, they bring to fore avid interest in online pirate strategy games with hopefully no casualties but, rather, a loud buzz of conversation. Impress people with similar interests or tell your stories with a real prop. Either way, this unique and interesting piece will surely bring life to the party.

Short Swords That Kill

Posted by: Dungeon Knight    in Fantasy Swords, Swords

thumbnail 06 19 Short Swords That Kill You might be wondering why pirates carry with them short weapons compared to the lengthier samurais or swords. Well, technically speaking these are also considered swords, however, long swords are not advisable for pirates because most of their combats happen in compressed spaces. More hand-to-hand combats occur and when they actually have the opportunity to draw a sword, it better be something that he can use to stab when they are just a few inches away from the opponent.

However, we can still find several pirate swords available in Dungeon Knight today. Remember that some of these pirates were actually able to get a normal sword by looting some navy vessels who didn’t know better. Obviously, these navy soldiers were no-match with the short swords of the pirates.

But what exactly are these short swords we are talking about that later on in the World War II have also been used by the allied navy forces? These are called cutlasses. And it’s just great that Dungeon Knight offers some authentic replicas—the Pirate Cutlass with Scabbard that is perfect for our swords collections.

Now collectors would find these cutlasses interesting especially whenever they imagine Captain Jack Sparrow of the famous film trilogy, the Pirates of the Caribbean, slashing his way through a wall of British colonialists. The history behind the cutlasses creates more stories to tell whenever you show someone your collection. Isn’t that what collecting is all about? Telling other people about interesting stuff that are related to each and every piece that they find there?
