Many parents do not want their kids to watch television shows because they feel that there is nothing to be gained from exposing kids to the many shows that can be seen today. They say that there is too much violence shown on the television and these are mostly uncensored. So to prevent them from possibly imitating these acts of violence, or from hearing words they are not supposed to hear, parents play it safe by not letting them watch tv altogether. Of course, this may have adverse effects, since curious children will always find a way to get information about things. Plus the fact that they are exposed to a lot of people makes them susceptible to receive information that is also shown on the television. Not all television shows are bad, parents just have to be more diligent in taking an active role when it comes to monitoring their child’s activities. Watch all the shows your child watches, and give them limitations and allowances to what they can watch, and to what they should not watch. It will be helpful as well if parents are watching these shows together with their children. Some shows that may be helpful are anime shows, as it promotes creativity in a child.
