Franchises are a dime a dozen and there are many successful franchises throughout the movie history. A successful franchise requires a good combination of an interesting story, complex characters, a good dosage of humor, some drama for background, a love story perhaps on the side, and of course the obligatory action scenes. The Lord of the Rings is all these and more, and its one plus factor, apart from its characters that are really a product of a very imaginative mind, is its wonderful landscapes and cinematography. Viewers worldwide are taken into this make believe world where there seems to be peace and harmony, yet at the same time, they are also transported to several lands where there is eternal darkness and evil seems to reek in every corner and stop. As is always the case with franchises, the lead character is a simpleton who is destined for greatness, and many people sacrifice their lives for him and the task he is meant to fulfill. He may not be a strongman, but he will always be brave. And he is surrounded by warriors who will pledge their undying allegiance to him, even if it takes their very lives. Such is the case with the Lord of the Rings and we all saw how Frodo changed from a simple human to someone who stopped evil from reigning supreme in the entire land. One of his strongmen is of course Gimli, and you can have a taste of what it’s like to be Gimli with The Lord of the Rings – the Helm of Gimli, available online from the Lord of the Rings Swords line, sold alongside movie swords.
